This workshop explores a range of preventative practices for sustaining the voice and maintaining optimal vocal health to prevent injuries associated with overuse or abuse.

Vocal Training for Improved Classroom Presence
3 hours
This workshop examines fundamental techniques in voice and physical presence, with the aim of improving engagement by communicating openly with calm authority. In building the foundations of voice, the session will support participants to: protect the voice from stress and strain; enhance the delivery of lesson material; manage challenging behaviour in the classroom; and build relationships and engage pupils on a deeper level.

Exploring fundamental vocal techniques such as alignment, breath support and control, resonance, range and articulation in order to enhance vocal power, clarity and variation.

Exploring the role of body language in communication.

Difficult Conversations and Managing Conflict

This workshop tackles the sensitive issue of challenging conversations and dealing with conflict with a range of stakeholders, with an emphasis on how vocal strategies can be used in such situations.

Identifying and overcoming barriers to having difficult conversations.

Understanding how emotion can impact behaviour.

Exploring the impact our voice and body language can have in difficult conversations and deploying effective strategies to diffuse conflict.

Examining best practice models for structuring difficult conversations.

Parental Engagement: Building Long Lasting and Positive Relationships

This workshop will focus on how we use vocal and physical techniques to build strong, positive relationships with parents, underpinned by mutual respect and open, calm communication.

Exploring the challenges parents and schools face.

Understanding the impact of voice and body language in our own positive and negative interactions with parents.

Creating a toolkit of effective vocal and physical strategies for working with parents.

Quick wins for fast impact.

All sessions include a set of supplementary resources for each teacher including follow up information on the topic covered, vocal exercises, tips for maintaining good vocal hygiene and recommended literature.
